Entrando más en detalle, podemos ver como el propio diseño de los ventiladores es muy distinto al que Noctua nos tiene acostumbrados, siendo estos en color negro y las gomas anti vibración en color granate oscuro, como ya vimos en la review de la serie IndustrialPPC de 12V. Construidos en poliamida reforzada con fibra de vidrio y motor trifásico con el sistema de rodamientos SSO2, los ventiladores IndustrialPPC nos ofrecen una gran calidad de materiales muy robustos, y un tiempo de vida medio superior a las 150.000 horas. Todos ellos cuentan con certificado de protección IP67 que los hacen perfectos para su uso industrial, de ahí su nombre, debido a que aseguran su protección total ante el polvo y permiten ser sumergidos en agua hasta un máximo de un metro.

The larger NF-A14 gives a great improvement over the stock fan on test and a couple of these would be excellent in a homeserver for example, or on a water-cooled systems radiators, the would move a lot of hot air away from the cooling fins. The NF-F12 would be an excellent upgrade for a normal desktop system too, they would comfortably cool servers and water-cooled rigs as well, but have a little better sound performance, so your tolerance is not tested by noisy fans.
Test verdict: The Noctua industrialPPC fans that we have tested in this review have impressed us. It’s probably a little unfair to pitch them against the humble stock chassis fan, but most people will have them right now in their system and any upgrade is always a welcome one. The Noctua industrialPPC fans are not aimed at the average desktop end-user, but they can be applied with success.

While the 24V models are primarily designed for industrial applications and requiring 24V to run at their full 2000 and 3000 high RPM ratings, they are not completely out of place inside a regular desktop system. At 12V, they operate as low-noise versions of the regular Industrial PPC and with added IP67 ruggedization of course. This protection is somewhat of an overkill on a regular desktop but it does ensure that it will operate much longer than any other fan without, living up to its warranty life. [...] In terms of performance, the 24V Industrial PPC running at 12V show very good thermal management and reaching much lower noise levels than other fans. These low noise levels are more in-line with what is typically expected of Noctua rather than the usual powerful Industrial PPC line. The larger AF-14 in particular has very good sound signature that is even across all levels.

Θα σας προτείναμε τους 24v NF για το σύστημά σας; Με το χέρι στην καρδιά, αν θέλετε απλά δύο καλά fans για το AIO σας η εταιρία ήδη έχει πολλές καλές προτάσεις στο 12 Volt line up της, χαρακτηριστικό που σας αφήνει διαθέσιμο μεγαλύτερο εύρος ταχυτήτων περιστροφής. Από την άλλη, αν διαθέτετε custom υδροψύξεις που ήδη απαιτούσαν "περίεργες" τάσεις, αν σας συγκινούν οι IP προδιαγραφές και πιστεύετε ότι για ειδικότερους λόγους (βρώμικο περιβάλλον εργασίας, υγρασία, κραδασμοί κτλ) οι επιπλέον αντοχές ενός τέτοιου σκληροτράχηλου ανεμιστήρα θα είναι ευεργετικές για την δική σας εφαρμογή ή αν απλά αγοράζετε ανεμιστήρες σήμερα που δεν αποκλείεται να ξαναχρησιμοποιήσετε σε άλλα project σας στο μέλλον, τότε οι 24v σειρά της Noctua σίγουρα διαθέτουν το κάτι παραπάνω που τους κάνουν να ξεχωρίζουν από τους υπόλοιπους "πολιτικούς" ανεμιστήρες. Προσωπικά, θέλω την Noctua στην industrial κατηγορία. Что же мы имеем в итоге, протестировав вентиляторы industrialPPC 24V в контуре обычного ПК? По факту на 12 В, данные вентиляторы работают по аналогии с их премиальными собратьями. При работе от 12 В industrialPPC 24V могут развивать скорость на 40 % меньше заявленной. В отличие от industrialPPC 12V, герои сегодняшнего обзора имеют тихий подшипник, который на низких оборотах позволяет 24V вариациям быть очень тихими. Это именно то, чего не хватало предыдущей линейке.

Ritorniamo quest’oggi, dopo tanto tempo, con una recensione di alcune delle nuove ventole marcate Noctua. Marca che ormai è sempre più conosciuta nel mondo per i suoi ottimi prodotti che riguardano il raffreddamento del pc. Andremo a recensire le ventole Noctua NF-A14 24v iPPC-2000 IP67 24V e Noctua NF-F12 iPPC-2000 IP67 24V ed alcuni gommini Chromax.
Test verdict: "Ancora una volta Noctua ci fa rimanere stupiti dalla qualità dei loro prodotti davvero eccezionali. Il design non è molto appariscente e quindi senza led(come piace a me). Queste ventole sono consigliate a chi punta più sulla qualità del prodotto che ai colori.Invece, se volete applicare un po’ di colore alle ventole potete usare i gommini Noctua Chromax di diversi colori così vi potete sbizzarrire!" Noctua dichiara per la ventola NF-F12 industrialPPC-24V-3000 IP67 PWM un flusso d’aria massimo generato di 186.7 m3/h a 3000 RPM. I test da noi condotti dimostrano che questo valore risulta reale. In queste condizioni abbiamo misurato 179,4 m3/h. Per la ventola NF-A14 industrialPPC-24V-3000 IP67 PWM, l'azienda dichiara un flusso d’aria massimo generato di 269.3 m3/h a 3000 RPM. Anche in questo caso i nostri risultati dimostrano che questo valore risulta decisamente attendibile. In queste condizioni abbiamo misurato infatti ben 257,3 m3/h. I risultati ottenuti si dimostrano essere decisamente eccellenti. I modelli NF-F12 industrialPPC-24V-3000 IP67 PWM e NF-A14 industrialPPC-24V-3000 IP67 PWM risultano essere due ventole decisamente prestanti ed in grado di spostare un quantitativo molto elevato d'aria. Questo valore risulta fondamentale, quando si ha la necessità di massimizzare al massimo sia il flusso che la pressione statica del getto d'aria. Noctua dichiara per la ventola NF-F12 industrialPPC-24V-3000 IP67 PWM una rumorosità massima di 43,5 dB/A con un regime di rotazione di 3000 RPM. I test da noi condotti dimostrano che questo valore risulta reale. In queste condizioni abbiamo misurato 44,9 dB/A. Per la ventola NF-A14 industrialPPC-24V-3000 IP67 PWM, l'azienda dichiara una rumorosità massima di 41,3 dB/A con un regime di rotazione di 3000 RPM. Anche in questo caso i nostri risultati dimostrano che questo valore risulta decisamente attendibile. In queste condizioni abbiamo misurato infatti 42,9 dB/A. I risultati ottenuti risultano decisamente buoni. Ricordiamo che la rumorosità è stata misurata ad una distanza di soli 15 cm e senza alcuna schermatura in grado di mitigare il rumore. Aumentando la distanza e ponendo dei vincoli di schermatura, come ad esempio un case chiuso, la rumorosità prodotta risulterà sempre meno percepibile, a tutto vantaggio di un migliore confort acustico.

To śmigła skierowane dla osób poszukujących przede wszystkim ciekawego wyglądu oraz wydajności i żywotności. Mało tego, dzięki możliwości pracy przy 24V takie wentylatory mogą znaleźć zastosowanie również w branży innej niż typowo komputerowej.

Can industrialPPC fans be used with fan controllers and resistor cables (Low-Noise Adaptors)?

Noctua recommends not to use industrialPPC fans with common PC fan controllers, resistor cables (Low-Noise Adaptors) or other devices such as potentiometers that work by applying (variable) resistance rather than actually generating different voltages such as a laboratory power supply does. Due to the higher internal resistance of the industrialPPC fans’ three phase motor, applying additional resistance will cause the fans not to start (e.g. with Low-Noise Adaptors) or to have high starting speeds (e.g. with most common PC fan controllers). Please note that the industrialPPC fans feature starting voltages between 5.5V and 6V and can be run at these voltages on devices such as laboratory power supplies or mainboard fan controllers which actually generate lower voltages rather than applying resistance. Noctua thus recommends to use either PWM or voltage based mainboard fan control or laboratory/industrial power supplies for controlling the speed of industrialPPC fans.

My fan doesn’t spin when I start up the PC - is it faulty?

If you've connected the fan directly (or using the supplied Low-Noise or Ultra-Low-Noise-Adaptors) to your mainboard, it's possible that the mainboard's automatic fan controller doesn't provide the required starting voltage due to the low CPU temperature. Please verify whether the fan starts spinning at higher CPU temperatures, remove any Low-Noise or Ultra-Low-Noise Adaptors, deactivate your mainboard's automatic fan controller in the BIOS or connect the fan directly to the power supply using the supplied 3:4-pin adaptor.

I get a CPU fan error using my Noctua PWM fan, is it faulty?

Noctua PWM fans feature a minimum speed of 300rpm to allow for ultra quiet operation when your CPU is at idle state and doesn’t require higher cooling performance. Some mainboards display error messages such as “CPU fan error” during the booting process when the fan speed is below a certain level. If you get such error messages using your Noctua PWM fan and if such options are available in your BIOS, please either adjust the minimum fan speed monitoring limit to 200rpm or increase the minimum PWM duty cycle. If your BIOS doesn’t offer these options, please disable CPU fan errors. For detailed information on BIOS fan settings, please consult your mainoard’s manual or contact your mainboard manufacturer.

My Noctua PWM fan starts to spin when the PC boots but then stops, what is wrong?

Some mainboards feature 4-pin fan headers that actually don‘t use a PWM signal on Pin 4 to control the fan speed but rather reduce the voltage on Pin 2 (like a standard 3-pin fan header). In this case, it may occur that the mainboard reduces the voltage so much that the fan stops. Please refer to your mainboard manual to check whether or not your mainboard has 4-pin fan headers that control the fan speed by reducing voltage on Pin 2 rather than by changing the PWM duty cycle on Pin 4:

Note that mainboard manufacturers use different terms to indicate that Pin 4 is not being used for PWM control (e.g. “+5V”, “VCC” or “NC”), but if one of these terms is used, you can be sure that the fan header does not support PWM. If Pin 4 is described as “Speed Control” or “PWM” or the like, you can be sure that the fan header supports PWM.

Unfortunately, the description of Pin 2 is not always a clear indication as some manufacturers use terms such as “Fan PWR” or “Power” for both types of fan headers. However, if Pin 2 is described as “Speed Control”, you can also be sure that the fan header does not support PWM based speed control. If Pin 2 is described as “+12V”, this is a clear indication that the fan header supports PWM.

Please also note that in some cases, the descriptions of the pin layouts in the mainboard manuals may not be correct and some models actually allow you to switch the fan headers from voltage control mode to PWM control mode in the BIOS even though the pin descriptions do not indicate PWM support. We thus recommend to look for these options in the BIOS before taking other measures. In case of doubt, please contact your mainboard manufacturer.



To resolve the issue, you can:

  1. Choose a higher fan speed profile in the BIOS (e.g. „normal“ instead of „silent“, etc.) or deactivate automatic fan speed control and use a Low-Noise Adaptor instead.

  2. Use the mainboard‘s fan speed control software or 3rd party tools like Speedfan to regulate the fan speed. Unlike BIOS based fan speed control, the supplied software usually checks whether the fan has stopped and increases voltage accordingly or at least offer more options to set up the fan properly.

  3. If your mainboard features other 4-pin fan headers that use PWM for speed control, you can run multiple fans from these headers using Y-split cables. Make sure not to exceed the specified maximum power draw of the fan headers (usually 10-12W) though.

My Noctua PWM fan runs at a much higher minimum speed than advertised, what is wrong?

The specified minimum speed refers to the speed at 20% PWM duty cycle. There can be several reasons why the fan doesn‘t go as low as indicated:

  1. Many mainboards do not go below 40%, 50% or even 60% PWM duty cycle on case fan headers. Please refer to your mainboard manual to verify whether the fan header actually goes down to 20% duty cycle. If that's not the case, in some cases you can use the fan speed control software supplied with your mainboard to overcome these limitations and reduce the fan speed even further. However, 3rd party tools like SpeedFan offer greater flexibility and better options to work around the limitations imposed by the mainboard vendors.

  2. Some mainboards feature 4-pin fan headers that actually don‘t use a PWM signal on Pin 4 to control the fan speed but rather reduce the voltage on Pin 2 (like a standard 3-pin fan header). As the fan speed at minimum voltage is usually higher than the speed at 20% PWM duty cycle, the fan can not reach as low minimum speeds under voltage control as under PWM control. Please refer to your mainboard manual to check whether or not your mainboard has 4-pin fan headers that control the fan speed by reducing voltage on Pin 2 rather than by changing the PWM duty cycle on Pin 4:

PWM fans come with a 4-pin connectors for fully automatic speed control via your mainboard’s 4-pin PWM fan headers. Please note that 4-pin fans can also be connected to your mainboard’s 3-pin fan headers though. When connected to 3-pin fan headers, the fan will run at full speed (unless the mainboard supports voltage based speed control).

Which Noctua 140mm fans are optimised for airflow, which are optimised for static pressure?

Noctua only distinguishes between airflow optimised and pressure optimised fans in its 120mm range (see this page for details). For 140mm fans, there is no such distinction: Both the NF-A14 and the NF-P14 redux models are true all-rounders that provide outstanding levels of airflow and static pressure. Either of them works excellent both for case cooling and for use on radiators and heatsinks.

How can I check if my 4-pin fan header supports PWM?

Some mainboards feature 4-pin fan headers that actually don‘t use a PWM signal on Pin 4 to control the fan speed but rather reduce the voltage on Pin 2 (like a standard 3-pin fan header). As the fan speed at minimum voltage is usually higher than the speed at 20% PWM duty cycle, the fan can not reach as low minimum speeds under voltage control as under PWM control. Please refer to your mainboard manual to check whether or not your mainboard has 4-pin fan headers that control the fan speed by reducing voltage on Pin 2 rather than by changing the PWM duty cycle on Pin 4:
