For first place, this was a close run all the way through testing. Both of these thermal pastes performed very well. They performed so well during testing, that these two companies kept bouncing between 55°C and 56°C, Gelid's GC-1 and Noctua's NT-H1.

We have seen here that in the case of the compounds we have here, the H1 was clearly the better grease. But it just barely beat out the Arctic Silver 5. But the others pretty much didn't stand a chance.

The Noctua NT-H1 thermal compound was a pleasure to work with. It was easy to apply and the performance was great right from the start. No burn-in time was needed with the NT-H1, unlike Arctic Silver products.

As you can see, at idle state Noctua’s NT-H1 paste is marginally lower than the GC1 compound but is roughly the same. However, at load state there is a bigger difference (0.5°C). This may not sound particularly big but this is fairly significant as thermal compounds simply transfer heat from the CPU to the heatsink by helping create a good contact between the two surfaces and so any decrease in temperature is impressive. These small decreases in temperature are also particularly relevant to overclockers looking to lose every degree possible.

When compared to the OCZ Freeze, NT-H1 comes out on top at both states; this highlights the great performance of the compound and the OCZ paste is a known performer. Thus, as NT-H1 is beating well performing pastes, it must be a very good product in order to do this.

Overall the Noctua NT-H1 Thermal Compound performed very well. It did beat the Arctic Silver 5 and keept up very well in the testing, this is nothing to shake a stick at. The Noctua product was 6 degrees cooler than Arctic Silver 5 and you get more product in one tube of Noctua NT-H1 Thermal Compound then an equivalent priced tube of Arctic Silver 5.

If we have to declare a winner of course it would be the Noctua NT-H1, but the temperatures are extremely close all around, and to make a choice you'd have to consider price and quantity you'd receive for that price. Considering you get quite a bit with the NT-H1 for a low price (about $8 average) it's well worth the cost in terms of performance and quantity.

Tras haber probado la pasta térmica Noctua NT-H1 en nuestro procesador, podemos decir, que este producto presenta una buena textura para ser aplicado con facilidad mediante su jeringuilla, la cual podemos tapar para evitar que se estropee. En las pruebas hemos obtenido buenos resultados, con lo que la Noctua NT-H1 transfiere de forma exitosa el calor entre el procesador y el disipador, evitando que se sobrecaliente el procesador. Además, también hemos comprobado que esta pasta térmica se puede utilizar perfectamente en Overclocking, permitiéndonos así subir las capacidades del procesador por encima de lo normal sin que éste sufra mucho. Y además, cabe indicar que la pasta térmica Noctua NT-H1 tiene un “tiempo de cura” muy bajo, y si se cuida, puede ser bastante duradera.

How long can a tube NT-H1 be used after being opened?

NT-H1 can be used for up to 2 years after opening as long as the tube is closed correctly after usage. The paste can be stored at normal room temperature, cooling is not required. Exposure to sunlight should be avoided though.
