The cushioned corners of the Noctua F12 line and the A-line has always been an under-appreciated aspect of these fans, even though Noctua features them so prominently. Every fan creates vibrations as it spins. Noctua knows this, and put those corners on there to keep those vibrations from reaching your case or your heatsink or your rad. The vibration isolators further cut down on the vibrations when these fans are attached to cases.
