NM-IMB8
The NM-IMB8 are offset LGA1851 mounting bars for the NH-D15 G2. By offsetting the heatsink 3.7mm towards the north and 2mm towards the east side of the socket, more pressure is applied right above the hotspot of Intel® 24- or 20-core LGA1851 CPUs, such as the Core® Ultra 9 285K or Core Ultra 7 265K.
This improved contact exactly at the processor’s hotspot can reduce CPU temperatures by up to 3°C with HBC coolers and up to 1°C with the standard version (medium base convexity) of the NH-D15 G2. Since the standard version typically performs around 2°C better than the HBC version when both are used without offset, the first remains the recommended choice for LGA1851 as it achieves the best temperatures overall, both with and without offset mounting bars.
Replacing the standard mounting bars and re-using the original spacers and screws, the NM-IMB8 are a simple yet highly efficient measure for fine-tuning the thermal performance of NH-D15 G2 CPU coolers on high core count LGA1851 processors.

Offsetting for the hotspot
Intel’s latest 20 and 24 core LGA1851 processors have their hotspot not at the centre, but slightly towards the north-east side of the CPU. Shifting the heatsink towards this hotspot and applying optimal contact pressure where it matters the most can yield up to 1°C lower temperatures with NH-D15 G2 standard models and up to 3°C lower temperatures with HBC models.

Cooler, faster, quieter
While the results can vary due to different heat flux densities, tolerances of both the CPU and heatsink as well as other factors such as thermal paste application, the NM-IMB8 can help to further optimise the performance of NH-D15 G2 coolers on 20 and 24 core LGA1851 CPUs. These gains can be used to let the CPU run cooler, to achieve higher boost clock frequencies or to reduce fan speeds and noise levels.

One bar, three positions
The offset mounting bars feature three sets of holes: one for offsetting the cooler 3.7mm towards the north side of the socket, one that moves the cooler 3.7mm north and 2mm east, resulting in a north-east movement, and one for the standard, non-offset position. While the combined north plus east offset provides the best results, the other hole sets can be used in case of compatibility restrictions such as clearance problems with motherboard heatsinks or PCIe cards.
