NF-S12B FLX
The overall noise output of the Noctua NF-S12B fan is extremely low when compared to the stock like counterparts. When the 120 mm fan was evaluated in place of the stock Xigmatek fan for their CPU, the overall noise associated with the system dropped considerably. This was even the case when the PWM speeds reached their maximum output during stress testing and when activating the 100% fan speed functioning within the system BIOS. The case fan comparison gave the same results with very little noise coming from the Noctua fan when compared to the stock Azza case fans. [...] The performance of the Noctua fans, both as a case fan and a heatsink fan, was excellent. The HDD as well as system temperature both dropped by a full degree during the case fan testing with a very audible drop in noise from the system while running. The heatsink testing showed only a degree drop under load with the same readings under idle, but again the acoustical noise associated with the system saw a noticeable difference when compared with the stock XigmaTek fan.
"The NF-S12B produced improved cooling performance with an observable difference in noise output, which has typically been a tricky thing to do in the past. Noctua fans, as well as the other cooling components they offer, are quickly becoming household names through their excellent reputation for producing quality components. The NF-S12B fan is no different from the high standard they have set for themselves, and is a perfect example of the ability to provide top quality cooling while cutting out the unnecessary noise of the competitors."
