NF-S12B FLX
In a quiet room, late at night, the NF-S12 and NF-S12B were ready to face off together. No computers were running in this room, and the HVAC fan was off, making it as quiet as I could get it. The fans will be powered by an AC molex adapter using the molex to 3-pin adapter included. I'll test both fans on their own, then with the L.N.A adapter and lastly with the U.L.N.A adapter. The numbers show that the newer NF-S12B is actually 1.1dBA louder than the older NF-S12. Noticable? No. When A-B'ing between the two fans, I could not hear this difference at all. One thing I did notice is that the newer NF-S12B seems to have a little fuller airflow sound than the NF-S12, but it's still no louder. When they were installed into my system there wasn't any noticeable sound difference. I could only hear a difference when the two fans were running head to head in front of me with no other ambient noise. The different in airflow was definitely noticeable between the two models. Although I lack the very expensive equipment required to gather exact numbers, I can tell you that with my hand 10cm away from each fan, I could feel noticeably more air coming off the NF-S12B.
"The NF-S12B did it for me - it's taken the place of my older and well loved NF-S12. The NF-S12B is a wonderful fan - it's very quiet and stylish, and has a price tag that's just too good to resist" (Steve Blackwell, DreamwareComputers.com)
