The tests showed that the coolers weren't really challenged by the Athlon 64 X2 3800+. After an hour of Prime, the CPU temperature was only 41°C using the NH-U12 and barely higher (42°C) using the NH-U9 at a room temperature of 20°C. Even with slight overclocking (2.25GHz instead of 2GHz), the temperature increased by only 1°C.
"Whoever is looking for a cooler with sufficient headroom for future CPUs or overclocking should by all means include the new Noctua coolers in his purchase considerations." (Andreas Karner, WCM Hardware Test Laboratory)
