NH-C14
Unexpectedly, the Noctua NH-C14 not only could keep up with its considerably larger dual tower older brother but actually managed to slightly surpass it under some of the tests. With both fans running at their maximum speed, the NH-C14 delivers virtually the exact same performance as a NH-D14 and, even if we use the included L.N.A. speed adapters and reduce the speed of the fans down to 900RPM, the temperature delta increases by a mere 3.4°C degrees. With both of its fans running at maximum speed, the NH-C14 is clearly audible, yet not up to an intolerable level. Reducing the speed of the fans down to 900RPM reduces the sound level notably and the noise coming from the NH-C14 is barely noticeable from a meter away, yet the U.L.N.A. adapters would have to be used if complete silence is required.
"Even though we did expect great performance from a Noctua product, the NH-C14 exceeded even our greatest expectations when it managed to compete with and even outperform the older but significantly larger and more popular NH-D14. Considering that the NH-C14 has only a single series of fins and significantly less heat dissipation surface than the NH-D14, the fact that the NH-C14 even managed to deliver the same thermal performance was quite a feat all by itself."
