NF-S12A FLX
As was to be expected, the PWM and FLX models proved to have the best cooling capabilities, thanks to the added RPM’s that you don’t get with the ULN — but what you lack in RPM, you more than make up for with an absolute silent experience. Now the PWM and FLX aren’t loud by any stretch of the imagination, but the ULN really gives you the true silent experience, if that’s what you’re looking for.
Overall, I would recommend the PWM to anybody looking for 120mm fans for their water cooling radiator, or CPU cooler. As for the FLX and ULN, they’re really interchangeable. If you want the ability to have that extra speed, the FLX is for you, since it’s aptly named because it’s capable of being adapted to speeds just as low as the ULN, whereas the ULN only offers complete silent performance.
No matter which you choose, you cannot go wrong with the silent line of Noctua fans.
"What you get with The S12 line are fans built to cool the PC without increasing the noise level at all, and with that one goal in mind, Noctua succeeded smashingly!" (DJ Dixon, TechVerocity.com)
