NH-D15
When Noctua released the NH-D14 back in 2009, it quickly became a standard in the CPU cooling world. It rightfully claimed the title of KING of air cooling for the longest time by providing top level performance, and even bested some closed-loop liquid coolers above its price bracket. The NH-D14 provided -and still provides- stellar performance coupled with quiet operation. Since then a myriad of dual tower design coolers were released by various manufacturers, while Noctua only released a revision of the NH-D14 with mounting system for the LGA2011 socket. Noctua finally released the NH-D15 to the masses in 2014, and the long wait was worth it.
The new massive flagship cooler from Noctua shows the legendary pedigree of the NH-D14 while bringing a fresh set of improvements to the original design. First, the fans included are now both NF-A15 140mm with SSO2 and improved frames equipped with anti-vibration bumpers. The next obvious design change is the shorter fins on the bottom of each tower which are clipped close to the heatpipes designed to alleviate clearance issues with memory modules, even those featuring higher than standard heatspreaders.
"The exceptional engineering that went into the Noctua NH-D15 and the improvements made to the previous flagship model translated into tangible performance gains when the unit was put to test. What's even more impressive is that the NH-D15 thermal performance seems to scale favorably with higher overclocks. Add the six-year warranty and exemplary support Noctua provides, and the end result is definitely a new standard in the dual tower style air cooler category." (Wassim Oueslati, Neoseeker.com)
