NH-U12S
Coming to the performance side of things, while the NH-U14S performed extremely well, it was the U12S which was the real show-stealer. On the AMD side of things, (Piledriver) FX-series chips tend to get extremely hot beyond a certain point and demand enthusiast grade water-cooling. However, at 5Ghz @ 1.56v on our FX 6300, the NH-U12S was just 4 degrees hotter than our AMD FX liquid cooler (of which Asetek is the OEM and is essentially a rebadged Antec Kuhler 920).
"Noctua have really outdone themselves with the NH-U12S and the U14S. Both coolers perform admirably, especially the U12S. There has been a lot of debate over the fact that Noctua’s coolers tend to be on the pricier side and are thus shunned by a few (without even having ever used one their coolers). One look at Noctua’s packaging and build-quality philosophy, and you’ll know why their products are worth the premium." (Jason Singh, Blackholetec.com)
