When it comes to cooling performance, these 92 mm low-profile coolers perform very well in keeping the temperature under temperature limit even when the CPU was overclocked. While our quad-core Core i7-4790K is at stock clock the NH-D9L, NH-U9S and NH-L9x65 managed to keep the core temperature at 77, 75 and 80 degrees Celsius, respectively, which is not bad as the Intel stock cooler hit around 98 degrees Celsius at the same clock. When the CPU is overclocked to 4.6 GHz, the NH-D9L and NH-U9S coolers managed to keep the temperature at 83 degrees Celsius at full load, whereas the NH-L9x65 peaks at 87 degrees Celsius. In comparison the Intel stock cooler cannot keep up with the competition when it hit the TJmax of 100 degrees Celsius in our testing, which results in unstable overclock.
"In the end, the Noctua NH-D9L, U9S and L9x65 are certainly among the best 92 mm low-profile coolers in the market that money can buy. For rig builders who are planning to set up a small HTPC and small form factor system, these coolers could be the perfect choice for you!" (Kevin Owi Kheng Him, OCDrift.com)
